The communication and dissemination of the overall profile of nitrogen and its impacts on food and energy security, human and environmental health, and climate change to a broad audience is a key challenge for the International Nitrogen Initiative (INI).
Clearly there is a need to improve communication among different nitrogen-related scientific disciplines and research institutions; additionally, public understanding of the benefits and threats of the N cycle is important for a broad acceptance and support of a Global Nitrogen Assessment and will facilitate the end use of the GNA process.
The International Nitrogen Initiative is therefore redesigning the INI web site, initrogen.org, to enhance communications and information dissemination.
Specific goals of the INI-website design project are the following:
- Improve accessibility and usability;
- Update the design and underlying software systems;
- Increase availability of current and timely information;
- Allow INI stakeholders to maintain the site with powerful, easy-to-use tools;
- Attract potential donors, policy makers, scientists, students, and the interested public worldwide.
