XXIII Nitrogen Workshop - May 2026

Workshop Overview

The XXIII N Workshop 2026 explores the complex connections between nitrogen, water, food, and energy across scales. The program emphasizes ecological transition and multiple dimensions of sustainability, including climatic, ecological, social, economic, and cultural aspects.

Sessions will address emerging systemic challenges such as:

• Precision N management across the farm-to-fork food chain
• Nitrogen dynamics in dryland and wetland ecosystems
• Croplands, livestock, forestry and agroforestry systems
• N-mediated coupling of social, economic and ecological processes
• Advanced strategies to reduce N losses and greenhouse gas emissions
• Practices that increase soil carbon through C-farming
• Nitrogen use efficiency and N reuse from traditional and recycled materials
• Indicators and decision support systems to improve N management at farm and regional scales

Keynotes, oral presentations, poster sessions and highly interactive formats will anchor the program.
