Sustainable Nitrogen Management at COP30

📅 Date & Time: Saturday, November 15th at 15:30-14:30 (Brazil time)

📍 Location: Pakistan Pavilion, Blue Zone @ COP30 and Online

At COP28 in Dubai, the UAE Declaration on Food Systems, Agriculture, and Climate Action acknowledged nutrient efficiency as central to future food and climate strategies. COP30, with its focus on operationalizing the Paris Agreement stock-take, offers a pivotal moment to embed nitrogen management within climate and food system policies.

This side event will demonstrate that Sustainable nitrogen management is not just about reducing emissions, but about delivering co-benefits across all dimensions of sustainability:

· Climate mitigation through reduced N₂O emissions.

· Clean air by cutting NH₃ and NOₓ pollution.

· Safe water through nitrate management and reduced eutrophication.

· Secure food systems by improving fertilizer use efficiency and productivity.

The event will provide a platform to:

· Present the latest science and practical solutions on nitrogen management.

· Showcase global partnerships including UNEP, INMS, SANH, INI, GPNM, CIWF and engagement with Member States such as Brazil and Maldives.

· Foster dialogue on multilateral cooperation and align efforts with the forthcoming UNEA-7 resolution on nitrogen.
